The Association of Health Professionals has requested the President to remove the National Medicines Regulatory Authority from the purview of State Minister Channa Jayasumana to be placed under Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella until investigations into the missing data is completed.
President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said State Minister Channa Jayasumana is issuing statements regarding the data incident from a political standpoint.
Kumudesh said State Minister Jayasumana dismisses questions posed at him, claiming that if the good governance government is responsible for the incident it must be proven instead of making mere statements.
He added a separate investigation must be conducted into the charges against the former government and the missing data at the NMRA instead of covering up the incident.
He called on the State Minister to protect the independence of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority.
