The remains of the 16-year-old girl who died while employed at Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence have been sent to the Peradeniya Teaching hospital for a second post-mortem examination.
The remains of the girl were exhumed this morning based on a court order. The process commenced at 8.30am at the Dayagama cemetery.
The Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court ordered the body to be exhumed before the specialist team and the respective Grama Niladhari officer and Public Health Inspectors, in line with health guidelines.
No objection was raised by the relatives to open the coffin to identify the body following the exhumation.
A specialist team comprising Professor Jean Perera of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Colombo, Head of the same Department and Senior Lecturer Dr. Sameera Anuruddha Gunawardena and Specialist Judicial Medical Officer of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital Dr. Prabhath Senasinghe will conduct the post-mortem examination.
