Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Jagath Kumara says certain individuals holding posts within the government stepped down owing to various reasons.
Speaking at a media briefing today, MP Kumara said some individuals resigned citing personal reasons while some were displeased with operations and they therefore informed the President to appoint a new Chairman.
MP Jagath Kumara said the present government appointed individuals based on a special system and not on personal affiliations.
He claimed an individual’s capacities cannot be assessed 100 per cent.
Citing the former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the Parliamentarian said he was in the role for two years, adding that he could not resolve the economic crisis and that he also sought to retire when he turns 80 years of age.
He claimed the economic difficulties must be solved and therefore stated Ajith Nivard Cabraal was appointed to the post owing to his experience, capabilities and talent.
MP Kumara expressed hope that new Governor Cabraal will work diligently to resolve the economic hardships.
