Former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake has been brought before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate allegations of political victimisation.

Ramanayake was brought before the Police Investigation Division of the Commission by prison officials this morning.

The Department of Prisons said necessary arrangements were made to escort the former Parliamentarian today as per the request to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

The Commissioner General of Prisons was instructed to escort Ranjan Ramanayake to the Commission’s Investigation Unit in accordance with Section 07 of the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry Act.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to record statements from the former Parliamentarian by the Police Investigation Unit of the Commission today, tomorrow, and Saturday.
