Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says the public is severely burdened amidst the queuing era, due to the short-sighted actions of the government.
Speaking during a programme in Pannala, the Opposition Leader said as a result the country is in a state of disarray.
MP Premadasa noted the country can be uplifted under a brave leadership adding he is prepared to provide such a leadership.
The Opposition Leader stated the journey towards overcoming the prevailing situation is difficult adding however it can be done.
He claimed the country is facing a difficult situation at present as a result of being deceived.
MP Premadasa said the present government granted tax concessions of between Rs.600 billion and Rs.800 billion to billionaires when it came to power which resulted in the state income losing a large amount in tax revenue.
He added as a result global financial rating institutions downgraded Sri Lanka as state expenditure exceeded the state income.
MP Premadasa claimed the international community understood the country’s expenses exceeded the income due to inefficient economic policies.
