The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna claims the government has not lost face with the people despite the increase in prices of essential items.

Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Parliamentarian Sahan Pradeep Withana said the President, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Finance have already made arrangements for major development in 2022.

MP Withana claimed the opposition is attempting to distract the public from the government’s significant achievements in development.

He further claimed the opposition is carrying out a social media campaign to discredit the government leading the public to lose faith in the government.

The MP however said the public mandate in rural areas has not changed adding the SLPP has the complete public support.

On a separate note, MP Withana said in reality only 30% of the population own vehicles adding the remaining percentage are indirectly affected by fuel price hikes.

The Parliamentarian however said the government and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation are suffering a loss of Rs.128 from diesel and other types of fuel.

MP Withana claimed the government is suffering this loss on behalf of the 30% of the population who are wealthy.
