Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the public has rallied around them against the government’s wrong negative political decisions.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Parliamentarian Gayantha Karunatilleka said the public is in need of economic independence, freedom from lawlessness and corruption and being misled at a time when the government is preparing to celebrate the 74th Independence Day.
MP Karunatilleka said they observed during SJB political activities that the public is standing against such situations.
Parliamentarian Niroshan Perera meanwhile said the government has not tabled any plans to deal with the shortage of dollar reserves.
MP Perera said irrespective of claims made by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, their only option is to run the country by utilising the existing foreign reserves.
The Parliamentarian questioned how long the government can maintain the country with the foreign reserves generated by the previous administration.
MP Perera challenged the government to solve all crisis situations including power, crude oil, gas, fertiliser and milk powder by using existing foreign reserves if in fact funds received from China were added to the country’s foreign reserves
