The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the government must take necessary steps to compensate the families of the victims and the victims of the recent gas explosions.
Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Parliamentarian SM Marikkar said a formal investigation must be conducted through the Criminal Investigation Department and the maximum punishment must be handed to those responsible.
MP Marikkar said the government that came into power claiming to ensure national security has failed to ensure the safety of households.
The Parliamentarian urged gas companies to be held responsible.
He said the Consumer Affairs Authority must conduct an investigation along with the CID while a technical and scientific investigation must be conducted to determine the reason behind the change in the ratios.
On a separate note, commenting on the government’s decision to import 50,000MT of rice from Myanmar, the MP said the present Minister of Agriculture previously claimed he will not import a single grain of rice during his tenure.
MP Marikkar said the public has not forgotten the claims of the present administration adding the public will not keep quiet.
