Residents in many areas across the island are engaging in protests demanding fuel and gas.

Protests were reported in several areas including opposite the Borella Junction and the Open University of Sri Lanka in Nawala, the Piliyandala Police Station along the Colombo-Horana Road and in Galle.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic congestion was reported on the Ja-Ela-Negombo 253 bus route in Bopitiya due to a protest blocking the road by area residents demanding fuel.
