The Colombo Fort Magistrates Court has issued an order prohibiting protestors of the people’s struggle at Galle Face from entering certain roads in Colombo Fort.
A protest march is scheduled to be worked off today in view of the 50th day of the protests by the youth.
Accordingly, Court restricted protestors from gathering, entering or moving towards certain roads including the road from the NSM roundabout to Janadhipathi Mawatha, Ceramic Street to York Street, Layden Bastian Rd, Bank road, Chatham Street, Sir Baron Jayathilake road, Royal Street, Mudalige road, Hospital Street and Canal road.
The order also noted that protesters must refrain from disrupting police officers on duty, while refraining from acts of violence or vandalism.
The court order was issued based on a request made by the Officer in Charge of the Colombo Fort Police station claiming the protest march would cause a public disturbance.
