Minister of Justice and Prison Affairs Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says preliminary steps have been taken to facilitate the release of former MP Ranjan Ramanayake who is currently imprisoned.
The Minister said the Commissioner General of Prisons has requested the Ministry to submit records of Ranjan Ramanayake.
Minister Rajapakshe said he will provide his recommendation on the former MPs release, after inspecting the said documents and holding talks with the Attorney General.
The Minister assured that Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe will take a final decision on the former MPs release, after he has submitted his recommendation.
