Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera says a comprehensive internal investigation must be conducted against Parliamentarians who make derogatory statements aimed at female MPs.
Speaking to media in Colombo, Minister Amaraweera said during his 27-year Parliamentary career, he has never seen an undisciplined Parliament as the current one.
The Minister said the public has lost faith in Parliament, owing to the behaviour of certain MPs.
He said statements made by a few and their conduct have led to the public calling for the removal of all 225 MPs.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said he does not approve statements made by certain MPs that are disrespectful towards female members and said parties should also have a responsibility to discipline such individuals.
The Minister said such behavior will also tarnish the image of the country internationally.
