Minister Prasanna Ranatunaga has requested the President and the Inspector General of Police to conduct an impartial investigation pertaining to the incident in which eggs were thrown at a conference organized by the National People’s Power in Kalagedihena, Gampaha, and punish those responsible regardless of their ranks.
Minister Ranatunga informed the President and the IGP in writing that he accepts and respects the democratic right to conduct political meetings in the Gampaha District and any other part of the country.
In his letters, the Minister called for stern action to be taken against those who carried out the attack and those who abetted the attack.
Minister Ranatunga also refuted claims circulating on social media over his involvement in the incident.
