The Ceylon Teachers’ Union says a stringent investigation must be carried out regarding the allegations made by certain students and parents following the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination held yesterday.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Chief Secretary of the Union Joseph Stalin said it is the responsibility of the Department of Examinations to ensure the credibility of examinations.
Stalin said the Ministry of Education must reach a clear decision pertaining to the competitiveness of exams.
He said allegations were made against teachers adding they are not opposed to legal action being taken against teachers if they are at fault.
He said similar concerns were raised during the GCE Advanced Level Examination in Negombo with investigations still ongoing.
Stalin said the lack of trust in exams is a serious matter.
