State Minister of Transport Services Dilum Amunugama says a program to grant concessions to private bus operators will begin from next week.
Speaking to media, State Minister Amunugama said the concessionary package will be granted to 17,000 private operators.
The State Minister said he hopes to grant the concessionary package to transport sector employees who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as well.
When questioned by media over the content of the concessionary package, State Minister Amunugama said all aspects considered when operating buses will be covered.
He explained that vouchers covering the cost of tires, petrol, diesel, engine oil, battery, spare parts and insurance will be included in the package.
State Minister Amunugama said that the concessionary package will be given to 17,000 bus operators when curfew is lifted.
