Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says printing money is not a solution to existing economic issues.
MP Premadasa speaking at a discussion said it is the responsibility of the government to secure the confidence of investors and to protect investors.
The Parliamentarian called for stable economic policies adding that printing money is not a solution to the country’s issues.
The MP said policies should be focused on attracting international investments.
MP Premadasa said the success of such policies is proven through programmes such as the 200 apparel factory programme.
Parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa noted that Sri Lanka amidst a conflict Sri Lanka attracted investors to the apparel industry.
Meanwhile Opposition Leader Premadasa requested industrialists not to leave the country.
He stated when factories shut down and are established in neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh, the country loses export opportunities, means of employment, and dollars.
The Opposition Leader said close to Rs.2 million Lankans are dependent on BOI registered corporations adding if industrialists leave owing to poor economic policies, the public will be heavily affected.
