President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has invited Saudi Arabian entities to make direct investments in several sectors in Sri Lanka.
President Rajapaksa made these remarks during a meeting held with the visiting Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud at the Presidential Secretariat.
The President has pointed out the opportunities available for foreign investment in the sectors of agriculture, renewable energy generation, technology-based development and the Colombo Port City.
Meanwhile, Minister Al Saud has also been briefed on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Sri Lankan economy.
The Head of State had indicated that the impact of low remittances, collapse of the tourism industry, impact of dry weather on hydropower generation and the rising demand for fuel have had a major hit on the Lankan economy.
The President’s Media Division said the Saudi Foreign Minister has said that his country is also paying special attention to renewable energy generation and that they are ready to assist Sri Lanka in this sector.
President Rajapaksa and the Saudi Foreign Minister also discussed further strengthening of bilateral relations in a number of areas.
