President Gotabaya Rajapaksa reached Glasgow, Scotland last evening to attend the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference or COP26 Summit at the Scottish Event Campus.
The Head of State and the Lankan delegation was welcomed by Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Saroja Sirisena.
The President is accompanied by Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister of Solar, Wind and Grid Power Generation Projects Development Duminda Dissanayake, Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Foreign Secretary Admiral Jayanath Colombage and Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
COP26 brings together world leaders to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and is set to begin today and continue till the 12th of November.
All United Nations member nations including President Rajapaksa have been invited to attend the Conference.
