The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says President Gotabaya Rajapaksa must resign after issuing an apology to the public if the current crisis is not resolved within three months.
Speaking during a protest in Mahara today, SJB National Organizer Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake said the government must at least ensure the public are provided the basic necessities that are currently scarce.
MP Attanayake urged the present administration to listen to the public and formulate a programme to seek solutions.
The Parliamentarian said the public is calling for change in the current Presidential system adding the opposition proposed to unite all parties to ensure the necessary changes are implemented, to which the government paid no attention.
He charged the Head of State of attempting to pass the responsibility and blame on to others instead of providing solutions.
MP Attanayake said shortages of essential items including fuel, medicines and food and the power crisis must be addressed within the next three months.
The MP said the Head of State and the government must resign after passing the necessary laws allowing the public to choose their preferred President and government.
