Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says President Gotabaya Rajapaksa must heed the people’s demands and immediately step down.
Speaking to media today, MP Premadasa said he is willing to take on responsibility of the country, once the President steps down.
MP Premadasa added the request by the masses is for the President to step down, adding that he will not take on any responsibility until the President resigns.
He noted that based on the President’s resignation, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will take on responsibility and will give leadership to the country.
MP Premadasa also called for the violence instigated by former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to be investigated and requested the Inspector General of Police to take prompt action regardless of rank and distinction of those responsible.
The Opposition Leader called for all suspects to be brought to book.
