President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has extended invitations to local entrepreneurs to invest in local industries and join hands in building the country.
Speaking during a discussion with large scale entrepreneurs representing a number of sectors at the Presidential Secretariat this morning, President Rajapaksa commended the support rendered by local entrepreneurs to uplift the country.
The President’s Media Division said discussions were held on a number of areas including foreign exchange generation, fiscal policy, foreign employment promotion, investment incentives and export growth.
During the discussion, Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa said the government is focusing on producing cement within the country in future.
Meanwhile, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal said the government will take steps to maintain fuel reserves to ensure development and industries in the country are not hindered, despite the challenge of obtaining fuel.
Cabraal also claimed the government is capable of repaying all foreign loans and is working towards attracting non-debt investments.
Entrepreneurs meanwhile requested the President to halt the migration of students for education and to set up a mechanism to create suitable educational opportunities within Sri Lanka
