Minister Johnston Fernando says the government was able to ensure continued development amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at an event today Minister Fernando said three months after taking over office, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was faced with the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic that paved way for numerous issues, adding that no leader in the country faced challenges that the President was faced with.
Minister Fernando said the government tabled Budgets, proposals and policies and allocated funds required for various projects.
He noted that despite the many difficulties the President instructed that the development efforts be carried out including construction of highways, roads, culverts and bridges.
The Minister said contractors were accordingly consulted and steps were taken to complete projects.
