The Joint Postal Trade Union Alliance says the island-wide token strike launched by postal workers at 4pm yesterday based on several demands will be temporarily suspended from midnight today.
The 32-hour token strike was launched based on 24 demands from 4pm yesterday.
Speaking to NewsRadio, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Post and Telecommunication Services Union Chinthaka Bandara however said authorities had not granted an opportunity to discuss their grievances.
Bandara said the strike will be suspended from midnight today in preparation for an indefinite trade union action in the future if no clear response is received to their demands.
He said all employees will resume operations from midnight adding all mail delayed due to the union action will be distributed.
He said they expect the political leadership and postal management to intervene and provide solutions to their demands.
