The Joint Postal Trade Union Alliance has announced that it will withdraw from all services for a period of 24-hours from midnight today.
The trade union action coincides with tomorrow’s mass trade union action with the participation of all state, private and semi-government sectors demanding the immediate resignation of the Head of State and the government.
Speaking to NewsRadio, the Convener of the Alliance Chinthaka Bandara said all postal workers at 653 post offices and 3,410 sub post offices island-wide, including the Central Mail Exchange in Colombo, will withdraw from services at midnight.
Bandara said the President, the Prime Minister and the government must step down immediately due to the burdens they caused to the public.
He said they demand the government to resign, ensuring the freedom to live, ensuring the futures of the children and allowing the public to form a suitable system of governance.
