The post-mortem examination of the two Iranian inmates who died after consuming hand sanitiser has been postponed until the 23rd of October.
The Department of Prisons said a Spokesman for the Iranian Embassy yesterday informed that the remains of the two Iranians will be kept safe until relatives of the inmates arrive within a week.
Accordingly, the post-mortem examinations will be conducted under the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Two Iranian inmates detained at the Colombo Remand Prison on suspicion of possession and trafficking narcotics died last Thursday after consuming hand sanitiser.
The body of one Iranian is currently at the morgue of the Colombo National Hospital while the remains of the other inmate is at the morgue of the Judicial Medical Officer.
