Youth activist Lahiru Weerasekera, who was present when the military began dismantling the set up outside the Presidential Secretariat early this morning, says they were attacked from all directions by the Police Special Task Force.
He said the public was assaulted by the security forces and Police, entities that are expected to protect the public.
Weerasekera said they were treated inhumanely, with roads to and from the protest site blocked by authorities in a bid to conceal this illegal act.
He condemned the incident as a heinous act of violence against a public demonstration.
