Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says he has received a positive response from India and Japan on the proposal made for the Quad members (US India, Japan, and Australia) to take the lead in setting up a foreign aid consortium to assist Sri Lanka.
The Office of the Prime Minister said Premier Wickremesinghe has appreciated the positive response from India and Japan pertaining to the matter.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe after taking oaths has been working on setting up a foreign aid consortium for Sri Lanka to obtain much needed assistance to resolve the current economic crisis.
Through the consortium, Sri Lanka is expected to obtain funds to repay its foreign loans as well as allocations to import essential items, including medicine, food and fuel.
