Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to make a special statement to the nation today regarding the financial status of the country.
The office of the Prime Minister said Premier Wickremesinghe will detail his action plan to resolve the financial crisis.
Matters related to debt restructuring, sourcing dollars to purchase essential items including LP gas and fuel are expected to be highlighted during the address.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has been holding talks with diplomats in Colombo and representatives of donor agencies in the past few days.
Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe held discussions yesterday with country representatives of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank regarding the current economic crisis in the country.
Discussions with the organizations focused on assistance for the issues facing the supply of medicine, food and fertiliser.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also noted that the government has secured payments for a LP Gas consignment which will be unloaded and distributed shortly.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe is scheduled to hold talks with the Attorney General today regarding the proposed 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
The Amendment will then be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.
