Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will today inform teachers and principals of the government’s stance pertaining to the manner in which teacher principal salary anomalies will be addressed.
The Office of the Prime Minister said representatives of teachers and principals trade unions have been informed of a meeting at the Temple Trees at noon today.
According to government sources, the government has decided to increase the salaries of teachers and principals in two phases as per recommendations of the Ministerial Subcommittee appointed to table recommendations to eliminate salary anomalies.
Accordingly, it is believed that teachers and principals may call to an end the 94-day strike action based on the outcome of today’s meeting.
