Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the government has secured payments for a LP Gas consignment which will be unloaded and distributed shortly.
The development comes as citizens staged several protests across the country in the past few days, demanding the issuance of domestic gas cylinders.
The Prime Minister said necessary funds will be allocated for the release of the shipment.
Meanwhile, Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe held discussions with country representatives of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank regarding the current economic crisis in the country.
Following talks, the Prime Minister noted that given the dollar scarcity at banks, the government is exploring other options to secure necessary funds to pay for the coming week’s fuel requirements.
