Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says by offering the Sandahiru Seya to the Buddha Sasana, he hopes there will never be further bloodshed in the country in the future.
The Prime Minister expressed his views during the dedication of the Sandahiru Seya in Anuradhapura to the Buddha Sasana yesterday.
Premier Rajapaksa said the responsibility of protecting the freedom gained through sacrifices of war veterans is the responsibility of present and future leaders.
The Premier expressed hope that the country will not face any more bloodshed, and that a conflict does not arise.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of living in freedom and peace.
Prime Minister Rajapaksa added he governed the country after the conflict through the example set by King Dutugemunu.
The Premier said he made difficult decisions for the benefit of the country and was pleased when they came to fruition adding that the opening of the Sandahiru Seya is one such feat.
