Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has commenced discussions with Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Vinay Kwatra.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra arrived in the island this morning to hold discussions pertaining Sri Lanka’s economic situation.
The four-member high-level delegation arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at around 9.20am from New Delhi.
The Foreign Secretary is accompanied by the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Finance of India, Ajay Seth, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran and Joint Secretary of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) Kartik Pande of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
The delegation headed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra is also scheduled to meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and officials of the Ministry of Finance today.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said they have requested for fresh assistance from India, despite receiving loans amounting to USD 4 billion under the Indian credit line recently.
