The Ministry of Tourism says steps will be taken to revive the tourism industry according to a planned systematic programme.
Secretary of the Ministry S Hettiarachchi made this statement at an event organised at the President’s media Centre.
The Secretary said the Ministry aims to attract seven million tourists by 2030 in order to generate an income of USD 10 billion according to new plans and strategies.
It was also revealed at the discussion that steps have been taken to introduce the latest software required to ensure the convenience and management of tourists visiting the country.
A statement issued by the President’s Media Division said Sri Lanka has been able to manage the COVID-19 pandemic scientifically, which has led to an increase in tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka in comparison to other Asian countries.
