The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Union says they will release pay sheets of the Director General, Deputy Director General and Additional Secretaries of Health Services, if the Health Minister proceeds to publish pay sheets and overtime payments of nurses, intermediary and supplementary medical service providers via an official statement.
Speaking to media in Colombo, Union Chairman Upul Rohana said it will be clear to the public that such officials earn in a day, what ground level staff earns in a month.
He accused the Health Ministry of not being able to provide basic infrastructure or safety equipment to officers on duty during the initial stages of the coronavirus.
Upul Rohana claimed that officers in high posts did not know the struggle lower level staff has to go through on a daily basis.
He commented that their request for overtime was ignored by the Health Ministry.
