Domestic fuel prices are scheduled to be revised today.
Based on the previous announcement by the Ministry of Power and Energy, petrol and diesel prices will be revised on the 1st and 15th every month.
Meanwhile, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said fuel prices are likely to reduce significantly in today’s revision.
The decision is expected to be reached based on the drop in fuel prices in the world market.
Fuel will be issued under the National Fuel Pass QR Code system across the island from today (1).
Accordingly, the last digit of the number plate system, the token system, and other means implemented thus far to obtain fuel will be invalid.
Under the QR Code system individuals can obtain the entire fuel quote available for the week or obtain the quota in stages during the course of the week.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy announced that filling stations that have enforced the QR Code system will be given priority when distributing fuel.
Subject Minister Kanchana Wijesekera requested all filling stations owners and managements to dispense fuel only according to the QR system & and check the QR code vehicle number on the device with the number plate of the vehicle to verify details.
The Minister said almost five million vehicles have thus far registered for the Fuel Pass while almost 95% of the filling stations have adopted the QR system.
