The United National Party claims the public do not expect Constitutional reforms at this juncture, but only expect the government to resolve the economic crisis.
Speaking to media, UNP Chairman Wajira Abeywardena said the people do not want the 19th, 20th or 21st Amendment to the Constitution during an economic crisis.
Instead, he reiterated that the people want the government to ensure their right to life.
The MP slammed certain political parties for attempting to further their personal interests during a common struggle.
MP Abeywardena said the people are yet to receive a steady supply of gas, fuel, food, and medicine.
He recalled how Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe provided a gas cylinder at Rs.1,650 for four years, despite a cylinder costing Rs.2,650.
MP Abeywardena claimed the former Prime Minister ensured a stable price for essentials during his term in office.
