The Frontline Socialist Party and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya has held a round of discussions yesterday.
Speaking to media following the discussion, Educational Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party Pubudu Jagoda said the two parties identified several common grounds pertaining to ensuring democracy.
Jagoda said they held a broad discussion regarding the programme of the two parties adding that measures that can be taken in the short term to address people’s grievances were also discussed.
He added the suppression of protesters must be defeated while the democratic rights of the people must be protected.
While acknowledging differences in certain policies Jagoda said it terms of ensuring democracy in the country both parties are of the same view.
He added the two parties also decided to hold talks with other opposition political parties as well.
Meanwhile, SJB Parliamentarian Kabir Hashim also speaking to media said the burning issues in the country require the support of all individuals when seeking solutions.
MP Hashim said the views of the public must be respected in the process.
He added it was also highlighted that certain changes must be made within the political sphere in the country as well.
