Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka has commended Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for taking up the challenge of addressing the country’s economic crisis, at a time when a number of political party leaders backed away from the responsibility.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, MP Ranawaka said he is of the stance that an interim all-party government must be formed to overcome the current challenges.
He said although some factions are calling for the conduct of an election, he believes such a move is not practical.
MP Ranawaka through his letter has stated that he will extend his support, if an interim all-party government is formed.
Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka has also questioned whether the Prime Minister has held discussions with the President on when the Head of State is intending on stepping down from the post, and whether legal action will be taken against mobs who attacked protesters at Galle Face green among others.
The Parliamentarian has also requested the Prime Minister to promptly reveal the roadmap that the new government will follow to end the current political and economic crisis.
He has said after evaluating the roadmap, he will take a decision on supporting the new interim government.
