Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka says he expects that steps will be taken, without merely depending on statements by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the wake of the brutal killing of Priyantha Kumara in Sialkot.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday, the Parliamentarian said the Pakistan government has a responsibility to protect Sri Lankans in Pakistan similar to how Sri Lanka ensures the safety of Pakistani nationals.
MP Ranawaka said Sri Lanka must not forget the assistance and favours received from Pakistan throughout history.
He said there are many Pakistanis in Sri Lanka on tourist visas and those who are currently undergoing quarantine in order to travel to other nations adding their safety must not be threatened either.
