Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Political Victimization to give evidence.
MP Ranawaka was accused of being a member of the Anti-Corruption Secretariat, that was active during the period of the good governance government to investigate allegations of corruption during the United People’s Freedom Alliance government.
The Parliamentarian filed a case over the allegations before the Court of Appeal.
MP Ranawaka said attempts are underway to appoint another Commission in order to take legal action against him and revoke his civil rights.
Speaking to media after appearing before the PCoI today, the MP said the public is facing many difficulties including shortages of essential items, gas, and fuel and are also facing power cuts.
He said the main reason for such issues is the shortage of dollars.
MP Ranawaka said the shortage of dollars was created due to corrupt and fraudulent activities carried out after 2010 under the guise of development.
He said he is being prosecuted as he spoke against corruption.
MP Ranawaka said other individuals involved in investigations conducted by the Anti-Corruption Secretariat have not been summoned before the PCoI.
