Leaders of eleven parties affiliated to the government have decided to meet once again on the 23rd of October.
The party leaders yesterday convened at Former President Maithripala Sirisena’s residence to discuss future steps pertaining to the decision to vest 40% of the Yugadanavi Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya to an American firm.
The group previously submitted a letter requesting an audience with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to hold a round of talks to discuss the issue.
However, the President responded to the request and directed them to hold talks with the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister pertaining to the issue.
Therefore, the eleven party leaders affiliated to the government will reconvene once again next Saturday to discuss further action on the matter.
The group previously met with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to discuss concerns surrounding the agreement that ended in a stalemate.
