Parliament will convene at 10am today, after sittings scheduled over four days this week, was curtailed to one day.
Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said the decision was taken considering the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision was reached by the Committee on Parliamentary Business that met under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana yesterday.
Accordingly, Parliament will convene at 10 this morning with time allocated from 10am to 11am for ‘Questions for Oral Answers’.
The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) (Temporary Provisions) Bill, two orders under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act, two resolutions under Section 10 of the Customs Ordinance (Chapter 235) will be taken up for debate between 11am and 4.30pm.
Meanwhile time has also been allocated for questions at the adjournment time from 4.30pm to 4.50pm while the adjournment motion will be moved by the government and debated from 4.50pm to 5.30pm.
