Experts have warned that malnutrition amongst children could increase due to the prevailing situation.

Therefore, they urge parents to pay more attention to their children’s nutrition needs.

Member of the Sri Lanka Government Ayurveda Medical Officer’s Association Dr. Senaka Gamage said all vegetables and plants which could be cultivated in residences must be cultivated.

Dr. Gamage said the country is facing a severe food shortage leading to a major food crisis.

He said parents need not spend more money to fulfil the nutrition needs of children since the likes of Moringa leaves contain all 20 proteins in addition to iron, calcium, and folic acid.

Dr. Gamage said three seeds of a Jackfruit can match the nutrition received from an egg.
