Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Major General (Rt) Umar Farooq Burki says the Pakistan government will extend its support to Sri Lanka in resolving the current economic crisis.
The High Commissioner today called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House this evening.
The President’s Media Division said the High Commissioner informed that the two countries will further strengthen close and multilateral relations in areas of politics, trade, cultural, security and development cooperation.
The President thanked the government of Pakistan for providing medicines as humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka and for offering scholarships to Sri Lankan students to pursue higher education.
The President also informed the High Commissioner of the current economic crisis.
High Commissioner Burki said the Pakistan government will extend its support to Sri Lanka and expressed hope that Sri Lanka will overcome the crisis at the earliest.
