The Foreign Ministry says it expects that Pakistan authorities will take the required action to investigate an incident of torture and murder of a Sri Lankan in Sialkot, Pakistan.
The Foreign Ministry in a series of Tweets said the Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad is in the process of verifying the details of the incident from Pakistan authorities.
The Ministry said it expects that Pakistan authorities will take the required action to investigate and ensure justice.
The Foreign Ministry said Sri Lanka is awaiting the results of further investigations and is working with all parties concerned to bring the Sri Lankans remains home.
The Ministry also welcomed the statement by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan regarding the vigorous steps being taken to arrest those responsible and to ascertain the truth of the matter rapidly.
The Ministry said Sri Lanka is in constant touch with Pakistan authorities and will take all necessary steps.
