The opposition says the Defence Minister of Pakistan should apologize from the family of the Sri Lankan national who was brutally murdered in Sialkot, Pakistan last week.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday during the Committee Stage Debate on the 2022 Budget, Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardene said the Pakistani Defence Minister must make an unreserved apology from the wife and the children of the murdered individual.
MP Jayawardene said while he is demanding an apology from the Pakistani Defence Minister over the killing, certain factions in the government benches are obstructing his speech without realizing the gravity of the incident.
Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardene said he has a backbone to demand an apology while the government remains silent.
He said Sri Lanka should also learn lessons from the incident.
MP Jayawardene noted that it is important to take steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the country.
He also stressed that Sri Lanka should not allow extremism to flourish in the country.
