The Consumer Affairs Authority has seized over 4,000kg of rice from Monaragala and Anuradhapura.
The CAA said it seized 2,575kg of rice that were hoarded at a location in Monaragala while 1,500kg of rice were seized from Anuradhapura.
The Consumer Affairs Authority said legal action will be taken against the owners of the stocks of rice for hording and also for seeking to sell at higher prices than the government stipulated rates.
The government last week issued a gazette declaring control prices for rice due to a recent spike in prices.
The CAA has conducted around 70 raids in recent days to confiscate rice stocks that were stored illegally.
