The Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union says other trade unions have also agreed to extend their full support to the teachers’ and principals’ struggle launched due to salary anomalies.
Taking to social media this morning, the Chief Secretary of the Union Mahinda Jayasinghe said joint action with trade unions of major semi-government institutions is also being planned.
Jayasinghe said today marks the 109th day of their union struggle.
He said they held discussions with petroleum, ports and electricity trade unions yesterday on obtaining their support and working together in future, marking a new beginning in their trade union action.
The Chief Secretary said they are meeting with state, semi state, private and estate trade unions at 3.00pm today
