The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the opposition should make a stand on behalf of the people for public expectations to be achieved.
Addressing a media briefing, Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said, the leaders of the country have never been sensitive to the plight of the people and have instead opted to live lives of luxury.
The MP said the actions of the leaders resulted in the country’s prevalent crisis.
He said the public has reached a tipping point at present yet the administration continues to be deaf to the people’s needs.
MP Fonseka said the present administration has resorted to making boastful remarks that Sri Lanka faced such situations in the past and that they have no intention of stepping down.
MP Fonseka condemned the delay in providing solutions to the issues faced by the people adding numerous debates were held in Parliament in this regard.
MP Fonseka said Sri Lankan politicians prefer holding discussions and political spectacles as opposed to working to address issues.
MP Fonseka said this is no time for conducting meaningless discussions while the opposition must unify and take a stand on behalf of the people.
The MP added if the opposition is successful in its efforts it would be a source of strength to the public.
