Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Rajitha Senarathne claims according to Parliamentary democracy the Leader of the Opposition will be appointed as the alternative Prime Minister when the President and Prime Minister resign.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, MP Senarathne said he will work together with the Opposition Leader to solve the people’s issues.
The Parliamentarian said any world leader, diplomatic official or international organisation will always call on the Opposition Leader during official visits as there is no certainty of a new Prime Minister being sworn in the next day.
He said they will strive to form a new government by uniting everyone and dividing power amongst them to resolve prevailing issues.
The MP said the prevalent crisis will have to end in Parliament instead of allowing the country to suffer a similar situation to that of Afghanistan, Sudan, or Tunisia.
MP Senarathne said as responsible individuals, they must ensure that the country is brought back from ruin adding then only can they discuss matters pertaining to governance.
